Finally I can have some rest. It was nice at La Baule, I had to work a lot to do. On Friday 13th I played Moments musicaux and Fantasy with Philippe Cassard. I made a mistake in the first movement, that is, I mixed up my hands and made a little digression. I was angry with myself for the whole evening.
The Fantasy was also so-so. On Saturday I played with Mischa Maisky, not bad, “nice” as his wife Kay said, and in the evening I played Trout (well). But on Sunday Schubert’s Sonata in C minor was very good.
I remember, when I was playing the last two chords, I had tears in my eyes. As you see, ladies and gentlemen, my princess was there with her friends Natalie and Bernard. So everything was fine. I met Jean. He is a psychoanalyst, he knows a lot of music, and he strongly advised me to learn the Diabelli variations.
Yesterday we drove for 8 hours, and were very tired.
