Samenvatting
Uniek licht op de twintigjarige carrière en werkwijze van de fotograaf, waarin de mens steeds centraal staat
Ordinary People is the first retrospective of Rob Hornstra. The Dutch photographer achieved worldwide fame during his career with his socially engaged projects. Working in the rich tradition of humanist photography - which includes such greats as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans and Ed van der Elsken - Hornstra wants to sketch a human portrait of his own time. Inspired by German photographer August Sander, Hornstra has been pursuing this objective for the past twenty years, using a self-defined list of categories that acts as a signpost in the production of new work.
This book provides a surprising insight into the two-decade oeuvre of an inspired photographer.
