Chapter Five
Chords built from our Major Key scale
Chords on Guitar and Bass Guitar fretboards
Chords for the Guitar
Bar chord Form I / from Pattern 4 (has an E Major chord in open position)
Pattern 4: Copy the pattern to paper so we can mark the notes we will need.
First we mark all our Root notes
Next we blackout all notes except our Root, Major third and Perfect fifth.
Look for a way to play the three notes needed in our chord.
Here we find the three notes we need in a Form which we can hold with one hand on the neck.
1 is the index finger. 2 is the middle finger. 3 is the ring finger. 4 is the pinky finger.
Whichever note the Root is placed over is the name of the chord built. If the index finger bars the fifth fret, then the chord is an A Major. If the index finger bars the tenth fret, the chord is a D Major. If the index finger bars the third fret then the chord is a G Major.
