Samenvatting
How do we learn who we are? Feelings, thoughts and experiences, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, are all interconnected, and can teach us so much about ourselves and which opportunities we have to learn, to turn pain into beauty, use despair as a fuel to strive for hope, and transform dark experiences into light. For us, artistic expression is a beautiful way to help us in this journey, and over the course of months we spent many moments writing down our thoughts, feelings and experiences, which then took the form of this book. We hope that this may be of use to someone somehow, perhaps by putting experiences into words that others haven’t quite found the words for, or maybe by showing that many experiences are universal. Our bodies allow us to experience life and with all their imperfections they allow us to experience connection, happiness and wonder. We are only given one vessel through which to experience that. May this book serve as a reminder to all of us, to be grateful for all that our bodies have allowed us to live through, and to care for them and respect them. This is our ode to the body: may we care for it, as it has always been taking care of us.
