Samenvatting
The ›Evolutionarily Correct Cyclopedia‹ is a manifesto for men’s rights, critiquing radical feminism and political correctness, and sharply addressing the numerous contradictions in the ›politically correct‹ feminism and gender discourse. | Roy Den Hollander (1947–2020) was an American lawyer and men’s rights activist who, in his writings, expressed the opinion that the women’s emancipation movement had now overshot its goal. In his view, equality is no longer on the agenda; instead, there is perceived oppression and legal discrimination against men. The range of examples that Hollander provides in this ›Cyclopedia‹ varies from convincing and well-founded to witty, sarcastic, and misogynistic. He referred to feminists as ›feminazis‹ and staunchly defended his right to free speech. Initially, Hollander aimed to challenge what he perceived as double standards between men and women in almost all areas of society. Rejected, deceived, or ignored by the courts, which he considered corrupt, he turned to violence. In 2020, he committed two murders before taking his own life.
