Samenvatting
This book came out in 2010 in a somewhat different form. At the time the discussion was rageing about the world energy consumption, possible fuel shortage, nuclear energy, the oil war in Irak, the effects of fossil fuel burning on the climate, biofuel, ecological footprint, the effects of the energy consumption of the western consumer, etc.
In order to form an opinion, I decided to look up the facts and get the numbers straight. In 2009 the book of MacKay came out about the energy consumption in England and the possibillities of making use of renewable energy. This book answered several of my questions and I discuss it in my book.
Since 2010 there have been many developments. Notably the cost of photovoltaic energy has greatly decreased. The general acceptance of the need of a transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources has greatly increased. the Paris agreement has been accepted by most countries (except the USA) and many countries have taken concrete stept towards implementing the transition.
The great question today is how to achieve the implementation and what will be the effect on our life.
While the situation has changed with respect to 2010, the basic issues of the problem have been discussed and many relevant facts have been given in this book.
