Samenvatting
Kaylon, a journalist and master student at the height of the COVID pandemic of 2020, discovers the owner of Paris' most prestigious hedge fund by accident, during his vacation in France with his girlfriend Sofie. He starts off as an intern at this firm, which goes by the name of Hypervestments. Over the course of time he develops his professional skills, ánd he discovers, together with a (former) fellow student, how a well-connected group of criminal oligarchs is exploiting the Eurozone during the COVID crisis as well as the years that follow.
Some members of the criminal syndicate are from democracies within Europe, others from dictatorships outside of it. Through their actions, they are closing in on the European societies in which they operate. Will Kaylon and several other financial insiders and non-insiders be able to stop these criminals, before the syndicate commits a 'financial coup' with lasting damage, leveraged by technological refinement, shadow-finance and a criminal mindset? The concept of a free society may be hanging by just a thread!
*** "The reader will experience a wild ride of action and romance. Character development and plot twists are superb. Plus, the plot of the villains to cause serious damage to Europe's economy isn't far fetched. Kaars understands the real threat caused by the European Central Bank's quantitative easing program combined with the modern attitude of allowing European Union member states bend the rules when they calculate national debts. Highly recommended!" - John Christmas, whistleblower against the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and co-author of best-selling thriller KGB Banker ***
